About Us

At ESCHAR Publications, our story begins with a deep commitment to education and family. Founded in 1988 by author and educator Vivian Owens, our company was built on the idea that books and workshops could empower parents to enhance their children’s academic success. From the very beginning, we’ve focused on creating meaningful resources that support both learning and parenting. By 1994, our mission expanded to include the growing need for African-American children’s literature, offering stories that reflect culture, identity, and pride.

Originally established as a single-author publishing company, ESCHAR Publications made its first exception in 1992 with the publication of A WOMAN’S LIFE by Tarney G. Tarry. Since then, we’ve also served in an advisory role, guiding aspiring authors as they launched their own publishing ventures. Over the decades, our passion for storytelling and education has remained at the heart of everything we do.

Committed to Excellence in Educational Literature

Today, ESCHAR Publications continues to thrive as a small, independent publishing company, focused primarily on children’s literature, educational children’s books, and supportive materials for families and educators. Our titles are available not only on our website but also on Amazon, including eBooks via Kindle. We’re proud to share that several of our works have received national recognition—Nadanda the Wordmaker earned a Best Book Award from Writer’s Digest, and Parenting for Education: Revised Edition received honors from both the Mom’s Choice Awards and the Florida Authors and Publishers Association.

We’re excited about our latest releases, The Man Who Hid Christmas in a Shoebox and Create a Math Environment: Revised Edition, and look forward to continuing our mission of enriching young minds and supporting families. Whether you’re looking for culturally rich educational children’s books or insightful parenting books, ESCHAR Publications is honored to be part of your learning journey. Thank you for reading with us.
